Of tattoos and Christians....
Okay, let ME be the one who quotes it first......Leviticus 19:28....." Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." I have had that verse mentioned to me countless times. ( I may want to add that I have well over 20 tattoos at the present time...). Please share your views on either the verse or tattoos in a Christian world. I will share mine in due time and explain the meanings behind the tattoos I wear.... Be honest, you wont hurt my feelings...

Having a tatoo is not the same as cuting your body for the dead and probably not related to the type of tatooes to which this scripture is referring. It has been explained to me that tattooing had to do with religion and the worship of false gods back in the Leviticus days.
I question how healthy tattoos are for your body. Your body is temple of God and you should take care of it. But you get a new body with the resurrection. The temple is not as important as heart, soul, and mind.
Fruit of the Spirit is really where our concentration needs to be. With that no Christian should be able to argue against. We are not under law, but under grace - we are free to obey Christ - grace isn't license to sin.
Christians need to be careful and not argue amongst ourselves. Focus on Christ and serving Him, rather than serving as a judge of others, Christian and non-Christians. Spend your energy on seeking and saving the lost, as well as being bond-servant of others!!!
That is at least my opinion about tattooes and Christianity!!!

Well Faith, my view is this: anyone who repents and follows Jesus is saved (if they have tattoos they can still be saved). I believe that once a person is saved - they should not get tattoos, as you just quoted the bible is clear. So I think that once a person is saved they should turn from their old ways and live a new lifestyle. Therefore, if you have tattoos God bless you. Does this make sense to you? God bless you. (Although, I admit I love to see tattoos of the cross on men.)

I am covered with tattoos, I got them all b4 I was saved ,does it matter no,are we under the law? no,should we get tattoos? I would pray about it and see what God has to say if he says get it I would get it.If I did not hear from him I would take that as a no. MY 2 cents,God Bless You.

I started my ink collection years before I was saved. Nothing obscene but, not what you'd expect to find on a Christian either. Someone told me once, to wear those tattoos as "flags of my enemies". That's who I was not, who I am now. Since being saved, the ink I wear has deeper meaning. From Matthew.... I send you out like sheep among the wolves... My left arm bears almost ten wolves amongst spiraling tribal designs. Behind all that, filling the empty space, are flames. (hence, the "keeping hell at arm's length" on my page.) Although still a work in progress, my left arm has helped open more conversations about religion and being a Christian than anything else. More to share if ya ask..
Now, what do you all think of this verse??....Revelation 19:16- "On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

I don't think there is anything wrong with tattoos as long as the ones that you are getting post-salvation are not obscene/unGodly in nature. The scripture in Leviticus (as explained earlier) has to do with marking your body for other religions/gods the same as song tribes still practice today. I personally have a couple tattoos and I plan to get a couple more. It can be used as a great witnessing tool to start conversation and explain the meaning behind the ink patterns. Just my personal opinion. God bless

It is a contrast. The mark of the beast is 666. Jesus has mark on Himself and robe identifying who He is. The mark the unbelievers receive is permanent and probably scannable, not just a surface paint - a microchip enbedded in the skin. It is mark of permanance, for all announcing who owns you. This is not a tattoo, but much more intense.
Interesting question!!!

were it not for certain rules about tattoos at my job, I'd have "SAVED" across my right hand, and "AMEN" across my knuckles. (As if the crosses, the "psalm 51" on my leg, "Jesus Freak", on my arm, and the image of Christ, wouldn't be enough to peg me as a Christian)....
