Off and on, over the years I have done research on the apocryphal books that are sometimes found between the Old and New Testaments.  Briefly stated these are generally rejected by Protestant churches but generally accepted by Catholics and Eastern Orthodox churches.  These books are rather borderline when it comes to doctrines and have been the subject of many debates.  Personally I feel that a small number of these are inspired and should be part of the OT.  One of these is the "Prayer of Azariah", which is an extension of the Book of Daniel and specifically chapter 3.  We have to think that these individual were under very harsh persecution and their thoughts and emotions must have been very much as the "Prayer of Azariah" indicates.

I do not know if what is found in the text of "Azariah" is actual history or not but I find nothing wrong with it and it even has a good lesson within.  This would be to not deny God and to continue in praise regardless of ones situation.  This is something to think on.
