HIS LIFE 51
Posted On 03/20/2017 18:09:04 by EllieDunn

Today's Writing is based on Matthew 26:26-50:

As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat, this is my body.  He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant (new testament), which was poured out (shed) for many for the remission of sin.  I say to you, I will not drink anymore, until the day, when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.  They sang a song of praise, then went to the mount of Olives.

Then Jesus said to them, All of you will be offended because of me this night, for it is written, I will hit the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered abroad. But after I have risen again, I will go before you to Galilee.

Peter answered him, and said, Though all men will be offended because of you, I will never be offended.

Jesus said to him, I say to you, That this night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times (thrice).

Peter said to him, Though I may die with you, I will not deny you, all the disciples said the same.

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, Sit here, while I go pray over there.  He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him, and began to be sad and anxious (heavy).  Then he said to them, My soul is very sad, even on to death: wait here, and watch with me.  He went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.

And he came back to the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter, What, could you not watch with me for one hour?  Watch and pray, that you don't enter into temptation: the spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak.  He went to pray a second time, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass from me, except I drink it, your will be done.

He came and found them asleep again, for they're eyes were heavy with sleep.  He left them, and went away again, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.  Then he went to his disciples, and said to them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: look, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Get up, let us be going: look he is at hand, the one that is betraying me.

While he still spoke, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a large crowd with swords and stave's, from the chief priests and elders of the people.  Now the one that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Who ever I kiss, he is the one: hold him fast. And he came to Jesus, and said,  Hello Rabbi (master); and kissed him.

And Jesus said to him, Friend, why have you come?   Then they came, grabbed hold of Jesus, and took him.
