Book Review: For the Glory of God, by R. Stark
Posted On 04/29/2015 14:19:29 by PastorZomok

This is an excellent book!!! The subtitle is "How monotheism led to reformations, science, witch-hunts, and the end of slavery". The general reading part of this work is 376 pages but with extensive notes, bibliography, and indexes, it comes to 488 pages.  This fellow did much research! I found this book in a library and am glade I checked it out and it is a good book for those who desire to promote Christianity and apologetics.  The author shows clearly that people acting for the glory of God have, like it or not, formed our modern culture.  Christianity helped in the formations of both Universities and Science.  It was the main driving force for the ending of slavery.

The book is divided into 4 large chapters, and is full of nuggets of information.  I think chapter 2 and 4 are the best but that is merely my personal taste..  In chapter 2 he shows how Christianity is basically a parent to science and the search for truth.  He demolishes the silly notion that most scientist are atheists.  Science supports theism and not atheism.  I might try to find a copy of this book in a store, preferably a used bookstore....

excellent read...
