Pastor Jack did the Sermon on Sunday....And it was on Luke 8: but only one of the verses jumped out at me...

Luke 8:7

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up with it, and choked it. (KJV)

Why did this jump out at me?  Well, it brought back to mind, on a situation on one of my other sites....And about someone I knew personally....

This kind of reminded me, of temptation....How it will start to nag at you just a little, and then it really starts to bite at you....Until you come to the point of giving in to that temptation.....

This person I knew, had grown up in a Christian Home....He sang in the Choir, and played steel guitar in the Church Band....He spent many years serving the Lord, and then one Sunday after the family got home from Church, he turned on them, and said, I'm through, I'm never going back, and ranted on and on....He was true to his word though, he never went back to that Church....And the only time he did attend Church, was because he knew he was in trouble, so he went to Church to please.....But when things calmed down, he'd go along his merry way again, until the next time....

Do you know some one, who was a Christian, and then all of a sudden, wasn't?

You could have known this person for years, knew this person before he/she even became a Christian, and knew what they were like after becoming a Christian.....And then.....Temptation hits them again, and instead of turning from it, they go right into it....

A person, you would swear, who has been changed from the inside out....But have they? 

When you accept Jesus as your Savior, and turn total control of your life over to Him, things start to change....You're not making those changes yourself, but Jesus is making them for you, the changes are being made from the inside out.....And everyday, the more you read, and study the Word, the more changes are being made.....But....

There are those, who seem to have been changed.....They've lived the Christian life for years....And then.....They have fallen away.....

They are like the seeds that fell among the thorns....They grew in the Word, but then like the seeds among the thorns they were choked by it. Temptation has set in, and it gets stronger, and stronger, until  they give in to it.....

Are these among the people who will fall away?

Matthew 24:10 tells us that many will fall away, and be deceivers of many....

If you know someone who has fallen back into temptation, pray for them....That's all we can do....Pray.....
