All of Saturday I fasted for God to deliver me from my urges for cigarettes and to grow into a closer relationship with Him. Well I have a testimony.
    Saturday night I finally had something to eat after fasting all day. That night it felt as if God was overwhelming me with his presence. Somehow I new that church the next morning was going to be special. So I went to Church and was sitting down in bible study. One of my good friends came over and something told me to go with him to his class that he teaches. It turns out he was teaching that day on "going back to the basics." I simply smiled as it came upon me that going back to basics is what I needed to do.
    Recently I have not been moving forward but also not moving back. I have been trying to understand why and it turns out I had forgotten one of the most important rules. When all else fails, go back to the beginning. Somewhere I had strayed off of Gods path and just needed to go back to the beginning to get back on it. I'm smiling as I write this because I am so filled with His Spirit. It's true that the path is narrow.
    Also, after church I had two cigarettes on the way home that I did not want. Since then I have been without cigarettes. Yes, there has been urges. But now I have this power to overcome them. Going with out cigarettes has left a whole that I am now filling with God's word.
