The Real Religion
Posted On 12/03/2009 04:51:35 by erma

Christ's religion is essentially poetry—poetry glorified.”--Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I read this quote while looking for readings and online references for my research papers and planning to buy a paper online.

Before, I found Browning quite too dark for me to read as I have been used to subtle poetess like Mary Oliver, Linda Pastan, Margaret Atwood, and Emily Dickinson. I tried close-reading this quote, and I went to the conclusion that the word of Jesus Christ's are really,in essence, field with figurative language that we, readers, often translate literally. This must be the reason why there are a lot of religious orders, sects, and small religious groups that seem to counter each other. The bad translation may even be the reason why wars really cease, why people question life, why we fail to understand one another. Not everyone has the mental faculty the decipher the languange of poetry as it only enjoyed by those who go for difficult reading and understand the esoteric of the language.
