Vacation

Well, I’m finally back from vacation and able to un-neglect my internet life. Which, might I add, is usually more eventful than my life in the real world. Nonetheless, I had a fun trip. The first part of the week we spent in New York City. From my hotel room’s balcony I could see Broadway, on which rests the world’s eighth wonder...The Phantom of the Opera. I’ll have you know that the play was the main attraction as far as my personal vacation went; my sister and I turned down a cruise to see it. For those of you that wonder, the show was (if I may borrow Lis’ favorite word) /amazing/. My family and I were on the front row and close enough to be blinded by the Phantom’s pyromania. Our eyes were glued to the set; we were entranced by the music, amazed by the voices, lost in the story and in love with the Phantom. Er...the last bit may only apply to one of our number. But...you know...moving on.
NYC is pretty amazing in itself. Being from a little town in the south populated by no more than 30,000 people, it is my opinion that the Big Apple should be called the Jinormous Apple. Sometime during the process of walking walking walking to get on a bus to get to a different bus so we could walk to another bus, I realized that most everything in New York City is big. Big buildings, big signs, big statues, big stores, big people, big prices. A short visit was enough for me.
After a 1 ½ hour plane ride back to NC ((during which my mother was absolutely terrified)) we turned around and drove three hours to Myrtle Beach. I saw several interesting sights here as well, including but not limited to clumps of sand and hair in the shower drain and old women in bikinis. ((OKAY people if you’ve read this far you owe me a cyber hug!)) But, just before leaving, I paused to ponder the vastness and beauty of the ocean. I realized then that I hadn’t given the sea all the respect it deserved. How can millions of people look at the ocean every day and not be drawn to its Creator? How could I stand on a balcony overlooking such a masterpiece and not thank Him for it?
I took a few moments to appreciate it after that, luggage in hand, before heading out to begin the drive home.
Overall I had a good week and vacation. I missed all my friends so much!!! ((Cat and laptop included.))
