Baby discarded with hospital trash

Police in New Jersey have been searching garbage dumps looking for the body of a baby.
The baby boy was born prematurely on December 21 at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, but died a few minutes later. The body was to be taken to the hospital morgue, but for some reason ended up in the trash. According to an Associated Press report, a hospital spokeswoman claims the baby was stillborn -- but does not dispute a police report that says the body was discarded in the trash.
Marie Tasy is with New Jersey Right to Life. "I think it's very sad that a hospital would throw a baby in the trash can," says Tasy. "I think the parents certainly have a right to know what happened to their baby -- and I also think it's symptomatic of a culture that doesn't respect life."

The pro-lifer says there is no way to develop a positive spin on an incident such as this.
"You know, whoever is responsible for throwing the baby in the garbage can obviously should be dismissed," Tasy contends. "And I think it doesn't speak well of a hospital that would treat a human being this way -- dead or alive."
The 26-year-old mother, Kalynn Moore, describes the incident as a terribly painful one, and has hired an attorney. The AP report says a lawsuit is likely, and that surveillance videos have been requested in hopes they might show what happened in the bizarre case.
