Even though I've had the internet in my home for about a decade now I still go to the library and fetch books. Sometimes I feel guilty for it because I get so much info. online and I have several bookcases full of books, but not everything is online and sometimes I like to sit with a book in hand and read. I also like to do a few reviews sometimes in the hope that I can direct others toward good literature. Here are a few brief book reviews:
*Slandering JESUS, by DR. Erwin Lutzer.
This library book is only 156 pages long but is very well wrote and packed with such good information that I recommend it highly. Check it out! Erwin is also the author of The Da Vinci Deception, which was a best selling answer to Dan Brown and others. In this new book he refutes 6 common lies people tell about Jesus Christ. On pages 57 to 75 he soundly refutes those that promote the so-called Gospel of Judas. All and all a good read.
*The Victory of Reason, by Rodney Stark.
This is another library checkout and it is 235 real pages long. I did notice on the jacket that for Canadians it was a whole 10 dollars more costly. This is partly because Canada is more of a Socialist state than the united States. The book is hard for me to read because the print is a little bit small and its style does not accord with me. I do, however, agree with the thesis of this book that Christianity and its related institutions are, in fact, responsible for most great intellectual, political, and scientific breakthroughs of the past thousand years. There is no question that the West is great because it is Christian. A worthy checkout.
Thank You,
Pastor Zomok
