Jesus calls Lazarus out of the tomb
Posted On 08/13/2008 11:41:07 by PastorZomok

The resurrection of Lazarus by the Master was a great scene in Jesus of Nazareth, a film directed by Zeffirelli.  One can only imagine that the actual event must have been an event seen by many!  Jesus identified himself as the "Resurrection and the Life", or as the one that raises the dead.  Some day Jesus will raise all the dead!  Recently someone asked me about the whereabouts of the soul of Lazarus while dead.  I indicated that it was in the grave.  As Jesus indicated in John 11:11, Lazarus had fallen asleep...he was dead!  This is one reason Jesus had to resurrect him.  If Lazarus was happily prancing in the spirit world than it would have been cruel for Jesus to bring him back to this disgusting Earth.  It seems that many have a false view of what the scriptures teach.  They have mixed a cultic or gnostic dualism with Christianity.

Us Christians should not exhibit false pride like the rest of the world pretending to be inherently Immortal when we are not!  We are conditionally immortal through the Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

I know some of what I say may not be the fancy "popular" view or sound as exciting as what sensationalists present as truth but thats the way I am.  I stand up for what is right even if I'm alone.

Thank You,

I've noticed even some top theologians missing the boat on this issue and allowing their theology to be colored by a presumed dualism.  A good example is Louis Berkof in his Systematic Theology.  It is a very good work but he seems to hold to an incorrect view of Biblical Anthropolgy.
