Body, Soul, life: Monism or. Dualism, #2
Posted On 08/10/2008 20:52:51 by PastorZomok

In the first part I briefly spoke of differing options on how to perceive the nature of Mankind and Soul.  I briefly wrote about the creation of Adam as presented in the book of Genesis and how the Hebrew language suggests a Hebraic Monism and Dynamic Unity, rather than a Dualism.  These being mere blogs kept me from being exhaustive.

Despite some problems and hanging questions,  a Dynamic Unity and Monism is probably the most consistent view of Mankind and Genesis strongly supports it.  Now with this in mind, I believe it could be used to help argue against Abortion!

A dualist might be more accepting of abortion and even infanticide because they would question at what point God puts the "Soul" into the young body.  Some of these might be so foolish in their thinking to suggest even a child up to a few years old has no soul (Soul and Spirit used interchangeably here) and could be put to death.  And don't think some would not take advantage of this, especially in regards to abnormal children.  Is this not what a monster thinks when performing Partial birth abortion?  They figure that the soul is not put into the child until it is completely born so as long as they hold its head in the womb they can jab a sharp instrument into its skull and kill it!!!  This, in fact, is how some of these creeps think! I should add that they don't think that its just breath (ruah) that goes into the child at birth.  Note: Some that hold to a Hebrew Monism might also think that abortion to the birth point is ok as the child supposedly is not "quickened" until it gasps air, however, looking back at Genesis, Adam was not created in a womb, nor is an unborn child without life!  The unborn child is already very much alive even with a heartbeat long before birth.  The unborn child is even breathing and feeding, although with liquid.  In short the fetus has the breath of life because it is alive!  So which is the better way?  A dualistic view might hold to a late "soul" insertion, whereas, in Hebrew Monism and Dynamic Unity its a question of a living human body with function and potential.  A living Human being is evident long before birth, and a living human being is a person!  Location, intelligence, size don't matter.
