The True Meaning Of Christ-Mass

  They tell us that it is the season to be jolly.  It is a time of ornaments, red and green decorations, silver bells, holly, mistletoe and colored lights.  It is also a time of department store Santas calling out their universal mantra, "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas."  Nearly all of the realm of so-called "Christianity" join in and repeat this same greeting, "Merry Christmas!"

Today we are reminded in the gospel that the world will hate us, but that it hated our Lord first.  As Christians we must live in a world in which we are not welcome, and serve and love those who hate us in our imitation of Christ.  This seems like it would be very difficult, and it can seem that way sometimes, but the Lord also tells us that his yoke is light, and his burden easy.  It seems contradictory, but the fact is, if we're placing our trust and our faith in Jesus, he m... In the Gospel today, Jesus condenses the laws of Moses for the Apostles.  It's all about love.  At the base of it all, Christianity is a love story.  A Creator's Love for his Son, and his creatures.  The Son's love for us and His Father,  The Love between the Father and Son creates the Holy Spirit.  Christ's Love for us inspires Him to leave us the Holy Spirit as an advocate to help us in loving each other as Jesus has loved us.  Beautiful.
