Blog Entry: Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.- Psalm 51:7 As I recall the hyssop plant has medicinal possibilities and is slightly anticeptic.  It is in the mint family along with Oregano and Rosemary..  It is good stuff from the Lords pantry. Just before leaving Egypt the Children of Israel were instructed to strike their door posts with branches of hyssop dipped in lambs blood so the Angel of Death would pass by and not kill the first born.  (Exodus 12).  It is interesting to note that the pattern of striking the doors and the framework seems to indicate a cross form and the branch(s) of hyssop with blood are considered typological for the beatings/whippings that Jesus endured for our sins.
