Title: A quick point about Proverbs 1:7

Blog Entry: Proverbs 1:7 says, "The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools dispise wisdom and instruction." What was Solomon thinking when he wrote these words, nearly 3 thousand years ago?  Most translations use the word "fear" here but the Hebrew word used "yireh" has some flexibility in it and I think it was speaking of an "awe" or "reverential respect", and not a painful thing like "fear", although even today we might use the word "fear" to mean "repect".  Think of it this way: If you were a teacher or parent would you want your students or children to fear you or respect you?
