Blog Entry: It Would Seem That I Am Falling Apart When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Matthew 9:12 6:45 PM It has been a long day, or so it seems. Here it is 6:45 PM and I am just getting the chance to sit down and collect some thoughts. I don’t want to bore you with all the unpleasant details (I’m fine…really), but I had three doctor appointments today. Enough said, right? The worse part I suppose is that I missed by Bible study this morning. Around noon I said to myself that I would do my reading tonight, but I knew I was lying the moment the thought entered my skull. It’s not huge deal that I missed my Bible study (I am not a legalist or anything), but it is what I base my daily blogs on, and since I missed it today, I really don’t have that much to say—at least not that which matters very much. Have You Seen This Email So, I got this email about a year ago and again today. I liked it then and I still like it. It is called “Cell Phone vs. the Bible” and the premise is for us to wonder what would happen if we began treating God’s Word the same way we do our cell phones. What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets? What if we flipped through it several time a day? What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it? What if we used it to receive messages from the text? What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it? What if we gave it to kids as gifts? What if we used it when we traveled? What if we used it in case of emergency? Oh, and one more thing…Unlike our cell phone, we don’t have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill. OK, Back to the Doctor Thing I have to tell you that I caught myself couple times today thanking God for His provision, particularly in the area of personal healthcare. I will be the first to tell you that I have taken doctors, doctor’s offices, and doctor’s waiting rooms for granted, not to mention health insurance, low-co-pays, and medicines galore. I found myself stopping to think; “Lord, why do you want me so healthy?” The real question is “Why am I so abundantly blessed, when the majority of the world is not?” The answer to that question will remain unknown, but to suffice it say that because I am blessed; because ‘we’ are blessed, there is expectation (and directive) from the One who blesses that we will bless others. He is the Head and we are His body and the body obeys the head. It is that simple. The Lord has provided abundantly and He has also provided a uncomplicated way in which you can save a child’s life. Compassion International is not the only ministry saving the lives of children, but it is the biggest child development program that partners with the local church, is committed to bringing children into relationship with Jesus Christ, and then discipling them in the faith.
