Blog Entry: *********************BIBLE HISTORY************************ The gospels of Jesus were written down roughly 20 years after his death by his disciples. The New Testament was put together roughly 325 A.D. by the Roman Catholic Church. If thats not historical evidence what is? Do you think within 20 years you would forget about some guy who walked on water, healed numerous blind men and lepers, rose a guy from the dead and then was rose from the dead himself? The Old Testament is basically the Torah or the Jewish Bible. So all the Christian Bible is, is the Jewish Bible who's Messiah had come, and too many Jews are too blind to see the facts before them. The Jews are looking for a Savior to save them from the troubles of this world, and Jesus only promises to save from death and hell, so even though he fulfills the prophesies set by the Torah they deny him as Gods Son they believe he's a good prophet, but if hes a good prophet and not God's Son then he's a lier and cant be a good prophet so they contradict themselves. **************FULFILLED BIBLE PROPHESIS****************** How did a book foretel of Jesus' comming hundreds of years before his arrival? How did one man in 33 years fulfill hundreds of prophesies set forth hundreds of years before his birth? How did a book know that the world was round and hung in the sky by nothing, without telescopes when modern science at the time believed the world was flat and sat on the back of turtles? How did a book know what dinosaurs looked like thousands of years before they were discovered? How did a book describe what King Solomon's temple looked like when historians thought it didn't exist but we've just recently found 'historical, non-scriptural proof' it existed? How did a book know thousands of years before microscopes and microbiology that snakes had legs? If there wasnt a world wide flood why are their marine fossils found on top of mountains everywhere and run off erosion marks all over the world? How did this book know that life was in the blood? When at the time people thought if you were sick you just drained the bad blood. Thats just a short list! *****************SHORT CASE 4 CHRIST********************** A Short Case For Christ Few have ever given any thought as to what it truly is to be a Christian. In a faith context, I mean. Yes, we either believe or choose not to. Not giving any much thought to the implications either way. Just a little over two thousand years ago a man was born in the backwoods region of the Roman Empire known as Judea. His mother claimed to be a virgin at the time of conception, saying that the baby was from God himself. This learned religious man claimed Himself as not only the Son of God Almighty but the long fortold Jewish Messiah and Savior for all mankind. His teaching centered around the notion that only belief in Him as Son of God would grant one eternal salvation. After His death by the hands of the very people He claimed to come to save, we are told that He was resurected and ascended to Heaven. Is this true? Non-Christians (mostly new age pagans) say that Christians believe on blind faith. Following our man-god with no proof of His existence. But it is the new age faiths that tell you to meditate and let yourself be guided by some spirit. They say that your life's course was set by the position of the stars at the time of your birth. Or that your future can be found in the dealings of cards or in the lines of your palm. What does Christ say? When asked what the most important commandment was, Christ responded with "Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind." In this He is saying that God wants us to believe in Him because we KNOW that it is true. Can this be possible? What was revolutionary about Jesus' teachings was the in the way He presented them. Beginning with "Amen I say to you..." In essence saying before hand, "I am right and telling you the truth." No other religious teacher in recorded history had done this. And no other religious leader in recorded history claimed to be God or of a deictic nature themselfs. Then we have His claims of being the Jewish Messiah and His performance of miracles. The Old Testament (Torah) from beginning to end is an ongoing prophetic message to the Jewish people on the coming of their fortold Messiah. The prophacies are very exact. Even giving the name of Messiah, so NO ONE could miss it. And here, Jesus seems to have filled them all. The major ones being... -Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. -Messiah would be born of a virgin. -Messiah would flee into Egypt as a child and be called back. -Messiah would be named Emmanuel. (which in Hebrew means 'he saves.' The language of the region where Jesus was born was Aramaic. And in this language 'he saves' is Yeshua. Which was Jesus' name. -Messiah would begin His teachings in Galilee. -Messiah would come riding on a donkey. -Messiah would be born 212 years after the decree to rebuild the temple. -Messiah would be called 'Prince of Peace.' -Messiah would be hated and scorned by the Jews. -Messiah would be crucified. And so on. If not Jesus, then who? And the miracles? Not once has a serious debate about the deity nature of Jesus gone on where someone won the argument that Jesus never preformed miracles. Even the Jewish High Priest who condemned Jesus focused the brunt of their charges on the fact that He did preform miracles. But for an evil purpose. As Jesus Himself said...'How can Satan stand against himself?' Even today, the Jews admit that Jesus preformed miracles. But they never give a source of His power. The Koran presents a similar mystery. Admitting that Jesus preformed miracles. But never giving the source of His power. Both Judaism and Islam hold that only God (or allah) can give power to preform miracles. Jesus said He was the son of God. If He wasnt then he most definitely want of God. So how did Jesus do all of what He did? And my final points. Many anti-Christians will say that the beliefs of Christianity can be found in earlier pagan faiths from around the world. That the early Christians borrowed them to fill in the holes of their faith. Nice idea, if youve never actually read the bible. And most of your religious knowledge comes from watching 'The Da Vinci Code.' Christianity was whole before it began. It was not a 'NEW' religion, but rather the continuation of Judaism with it's Messiah having come. And keeping in mind that the first mass set of Christians were not learned scholars. But rather poor peasants who never traveled more than 100 miles from their home. To suggest that they had extensive knowledge of cultures a world away and already eons dead is just nonsense. The Jewish people were very guarded about their beliefs and culture. The Torah is testament to that. One major argument against Christianity is that the act of baptism and communion were borrowed from the ancient Arabic Mithra cult. Where a believer would lay under a bull as it was disemboweled and drink the blood that spilled from the bull. To say that the Jewish people would consider this an attractive act and want to emulate it is an insane idea!! The idea also that the Jewish people adopted the idea of a virgin giving birth to a savior from the Egyptians is a farce idea also. In Exodus Pharaoh says to Moses that he never interferes with the Jews religion and their God. Here we are told that the Jews set them themselves apart religiously from the Egyptians. When the Jews are led from Egypt by Moses we read that God Himself parts the Red Sea through Moses and saves the Jews while drowning the Egyptians. The Jews clearly saw their God defeat the Egyptians. So why would they adopt any religious ideas from the ones who kept them slaves? Why would they adopt ant religious ideas of gods that they saw THEIR God defeat? And if you really get into the nitty gritty of these other ancient beliefs you will find that most are spoken of in prophetic terms. Such as a savior being born of a virgin and so on. One could make the logical conclusion that they may have been talking about Jesus. But these ancient beliefs fail under one point that Christianity does not. These beliefs are myths and tales of gods that existed only in the imagination of the believers. And no where else. Jesus' life reads as a historical saga. The bible reads of people that had lived only decades earlier at the time of the writing of the New Testament. They name names ...Crucified under Pontious Pilot...When Cepheus was high priest. This is historical stuff that can be looked up and venerated. In fact, the writings that would become the gospels of Christ were began a mere 10 to 15 years after the ascension of Christ to Heaven. The most staggering support of Jesus' claim of being Messiah comes from the first Christian martyrs. The ones whom the Romans slayed in the sacking of Jerusalem in 70 AD. These were the first killed for their belief in Christ. But what makes them so special? Every religion has martyrs. But no religion has martyrs who actually saw the one that they were dying for. These first Christian martyrs were the ones who actually SAW Christ. And remember the first Christians ACTUALLY SAW JESUS! They would have known FIRSTHAND if Jesus did what we believe He did. Or if He was a fake. Or if He never existed at all. But these people choose horrible death for their worship of this man. The ones who survived the onslaught carried on their belief of this man knowing that their life would be only hardship for it. If Jesus was a fraud what made this first generation of Christians carry on the lie knowing it would bring them only suffering and death for it? Who would choose suffering and death for something they knew to be a lie? A few less intelligent people sure. But an enormous population of people? That is beyond comprehension! If the lies of Jesus have been so meticulously documented...How then did history miss this mass conspiracy! If Jesus was a lie then the Old Testement has to be a lie also. Considering that their has been no addition to the Torah in the last 3,000 years, youre in effect saying that this lie of Jesus was in the planning stages thousands of years before Jesus was born. This takes a leap of faith that far exedes the human capacity for stupidity.  How can you explain  all of this?
